Focused PDF tools

Finish the document job in front of you.

PDF Pro AI Editor keeps common actions visible, uses familiar iPhone and iPad controls, and explains exactly what each export creates.

Edit, sign, and fill

Add highlights, text, signatures, and opaque covers, or fill compatible PDF form fields. Undo app-created marks, blocks, and page changes before saving a new copy.

Text, signature, and opaque-cover blocks created in the app can be selected, moved, resized, or deleted before export. Text blocks can also be edited.

Create and organize

Scan a multi-page document, turn selected photos into a PDF, merge files, or extract, rotate, delete, and reorder pages.

The camera opens only after you choose Scan Document. The system photo picker appears only after you choose Photos to PDF.

Search, read, and export

Search extractable text by page, listen with Read Aloud, export rendered pages as PNG, run OCR to TXT, print, share, compress, or protect a compatible copy.

Image-only PDFs may need OCR first. OCR creates a plain-text file, not a searchable PDF.

Ask and summarize locally

Ask questions about extractable document text or make a concise summary without sending the PDF to a cloud AI service.

On iOS or iPadOS 26, eligible Apple Intelligence devices with supported language and system settings can use Apple Foundation Models. Other configurations use a clearly labeled local extractive fallback; there is no cloud fallback.

Straightforward by design

Your PDF stays your PDF.

Safe-copy editing
Editing tools write a new file. The source document remains unchanged so you can recover, compare, or try again.
Local document work
PDF viewing, editing, OCR, speech, and document assistance run on the device using Apple platform frameworks.
No account, ads, tracking, or subscription
Open the app and use the document tools without registering, watching ads, or starting a recurring plan.

Help when something gets in the way

Troubleshooting and support.

Start with the matching step below. If it does not resolve the issue, send the requested device details and we will investigate.

Quick fixes

  1. A PDF will not open

Confirm the file has finished downloading in Files. For a password-protected PDF, choose Tools → Unlock PDF and enter the known password to create an unlocked copy. Damaged PDFs and some uncommon formats may not be compatible.

  2. Search or Read Aloud finds no text

Those tools require selectable PDF text. Recognize Text can export a separate TXT file, but it does not make the original PDF searchable. Ask PDF attempts local OCR automatically when a document has no native text.

  3. A text, signature, or cover block will not move

Open the PDF and tap inside an app-created block to select it. Drag anywhere inside the selected block to move it, or drag the blue bottom-right handle to resize it. Content already baked into the source page is not directly editable.

  4. A copy will not save

Choose Save Copy, select a writable Files location, and confirm the device has free storage. Your original remains unchanged if an export is cancelled or fails.

  5. Apple Foundation Models are unavailable

They require iOS or iPadOS 26, an eligible Apple Intelligence device, and supported language and system settings. PDF Pro AI Editor shows its local extractive fallback when those requirements are not met; it does not send the document to a cloud fallback.

  6. The camera or photo picker is unavailable

For scanning, open Settings, find PDF Pro AI, and allow Camera access. For Photos to PDF, reopen the system photo picker and review Screen Time or device restrictions if selection remains unavailable. Neither is required for opening PDFs from Files.

Clear output expectations

Know what each tool creates.

These details help you choose the right workflow before you export a new copy.

Opaque Cover

Covers visible content in a flattened output. It is not certified redaction.

Form filling

Works with compatible AcroForm fields. XFA, JavaScript, calculations, and certificate signatures are not supported.

OCR to TXT

Exports recognized text as a UTF-8 text file. It does not create a searchable PDF.

Compression

Small File mode creates an image-based copy. High Quality and Balanced preserve structure where PDFKit supports it. A reduction is reported only when measured output is smaller.
